Christmas lights to help hospices
FORMER firefighter Bill Hopkins and his wife Joy are raising money for one of the two hospices serving Mid Sussex with another display of their Christmas lights – which are again covering every inch of space on their house.
The couple, who live in Newlands in Balcombe, have help from various village friends and tradesmen to put the lights up from chimney top to garden fence and on every hedge and bush.
At their front door they invite children to switch on a singing father Christmas for festive songs and a jolly "Ho, ho, ho!" to blow away the winter chill. As usual, Joy and Bill will be raising money for St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley and visitors to their display can donate at the house or at Balcombe Stores.
Meanwhile, Judy and Dennis Batchelor have switched on their lights at 24 Meadow Lane, Lindfield, where they are collecting for St Peter and St James Hospice. Judy said: "We raised 426 last year and we hope to do better this year."
Are you getting switched on this Christmas? Email a photo to middy.news@sussexnewspapers.co.uk and we will print a selection over the Christmas period.
