Country hotel gives community award to tireless Ursula
Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club near Forest Row has joined with Sussex and Surrey radio station Heart FM to give a Most Deserving Award to Ursula Downton.
Ursula Downton, founder of Polegate charity Children with Cancer Fund, was interviewed on Heart and received the award for working tirelessly with families who have had a child diagnosed with cancer.
The contest ran last December when the organisers searched for someone with a heart of gold who had made a significant difference to their local community, or overcame extraordinary odds.
Ursula was nominated by Sarah Smith, whose five-year-old daughter Maisie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
Sarah said: “Quite simply, Ursula’s efforts changed our lives.”
