Crime round-up in Haywards Heath and villages

Vans and cars have been targeted by thieves in and around Mid Sussex recently.

A van was broken into whilst parked on High Street, Lindfield, at around 10.45am on January 13.

The back doors were forced open and a Stihl disc cutter worth around £2,000 was stolen.

The offenders were disturbed and enquiries are ongoing.

Also, between 8am and 12noon on the same day two vans had there rear door handles broken and were searched whilst parked on Lewes Road, Lindfield.

It is believed a Makita drill was stolen. Call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting serial 0556 of 13/01/14 if you can help.

Later in the week, on January 18, between 10.30pm and 9.30am the next day, two cars parked on a driveway in Hickmans Lane, Lindfield, were broken into.

Nothing was stolen but it is believed both vehicles had been left insecure. (Serial 0686 of 19/01/14)

A member of the public has also reported a briefcase stolen from a vehicle that was not locked, the exact location of which is unknown but it is possible it happened between Leyton Lea, Cuckfield, Barrowfield, Cuckfield and Sunte Avenue, Lindfield. The police serial number is 1381 of 10/01/14.

Police have also reported a lock-up on Bylanes, Cuckfield, being entered and two generators and a petrol disc cutter stolen. It is not known how entry was gained. (Serial 0280 of 14/01/14).

Meanwhile, at a yard on Deaks Lane, Ansty, between 12.30pm on January 15 and 2.15pm on January 18 a gate was damaged and timber stolen. (Serial 0951 of 18/01/14)

Finally, around 6pm on Sunday January 12, three men in a light coloured or white van, stole scrap metal from a skip at an industrial unit on Burrell Road, Haywards Heath (Serial 0334 of 13/01/14)
