Cyclists break records - slideshow

CYCLISTS broke a record and swelled charity funds by thousands of pounds.

A record 836 cyclists, ten per cent up on last year, hit the saddle for the Burgess Hill Bike Ride and won praise for their unselfish spirit.

Despite uncertain weather before the start on Sunday, cyclists of all ages tackled 10, 20, and 40 mile routes for the challenge.

The ten mile route took them up Station Road and across to Ditchling Common and Wivelsfield Greeen. The 20-milers struck out for Ditchling Plumpton and Wivelsfield, while riders on the longest route took in Hickstead, Fulking, Hurstpierpoint, Ditchling, Plumpton and Wivelsfield, with all riders finishing back at Burgess Hill.
