A DADS’ Saturday morning on the golf course spawned a charity day which is now celebrating its second outing. Last year’s inaugural event saw 52 dads tee-off at Cuckfield Golf Course including more than 20 parents from Balcombe School.

Despite an initial downpour, the day raised a handsome £2,000 for St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley and £500 for the children’s bereavement charity, Winston’s Wish.

This year the organisers are restaging the day at Cottesmore Golf Course on September 22 with 80 places, most of which they have now filled.

Fund-raising this year will again be from a raffle with prizes donated by many of the dads including some from the businesses and local companies they work for. Prizes so far include a £200 flooring voucher, a weekend photography course, jewellery, a golf umbrella and golf balls.

For more info or to help by offering a raffle prize, you can ring organiser John Greetham on 01444 819271 or Lisa at St Catherine’s on 01293 447365.
