Firefighters are still watching over a fire burning 500 hay bale stacks in Burgess Hill which started last night (September 3).
Three fire engines, a water carrier and a Land Rover attended a fire in a field in Cuckfield Road at around 8.15pm last night.
They decided to let the fire burn out and have been watching it to ensure it burns safely throughout the night.
A hose was laid around the fire to create a fire break around hay and protect the surrounding fields.
A Land Rover and fire engine from Storrington took over the watch at 12.20am this morning and a Land Rover from Shoreham came to take over at around 4am.
A Land Rover from East Grinstead is currently on site.
