Friends rally to support cancer-hit musician Viv

FRIENDS of a popular dad-of-four diagnosed with leukaemia have rallied round to throw a music gig in his aid.

Well-known musician Viv Cooper, 49, of Pound Hill, is battling cancer for the third time after he was given the devastating diagnosis in April.

But on Saturday, July 11, all will be welcome when local bands get together for 'Vivstock', to help raise money for the single dad who has been forced to take sick leave from his job to undergo treatment.

Viv, who works at Bedrock Music Exchange on the High Street, has himself spent many years raising money for cancer charities, as well as playing at music fundraiser Oxjam.

"He's a diamond," said friend Victoria Lawrence.

Vivstock will take place on Saturday, July 11, at the Wingspan Club in Manor Royal from 7pm.

Local bands Angst, Society and the Danny Giles Band will perform, supported by special guests.

Tickets are only 5 and are available from Bedrock Music and the Wingspan or on the door. Under 16s are free if accompanied by an adult.

Contact Bedrock Music Exchange, at 3 the High Street, or on 01293 519222.

For the full story see this Friday's Crawley Times (July 3). Leave your comments about Viv below.
