A serious accident has closed a major road at Cuckfield this morning (Wednesday December 5).
The A272 in the village has been shut and there are delays in both directions between the B2036 junction and the B2184 Broad Street junction.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.50am.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue said a van and two cars were involved.
A man from the van was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Two adults were freed from the car and all were taken to hospital by ambulance.
One hose reel used to extinguish a car fire and three sets of hydraulic rescue equipment were used.
Crews from Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, and Crawley attended.
Police say one of the vehicles ended up on its roof.
Drivers are advised to stay clear of the area while emergency services are dealing with the incident.
Police say there is no indication at this stage how long the rescue and recovery operation will take.
