Gatwick Airport ‘jobs’ on offer at Central Sussex College apprenticeship advice evening

Central Sussex College is celebrating Apprenticeship Week 2012 by putting the spotlight on work-based training programmes and the achievements of those who study for them.

An advice evening at the end of this week at the college’s Crawley Campus will also invite people to apply for Gatwick Airport apprenticehships.

Central Sussex College has more than 700 apprentices currently studying for qualifications and is one of the largest apprenticeship providers in the area.

Apprenticeships it offers are in a range of vocational areas from brickwork to business administration, in conjunction with a number of high profile employers including West Sussex County Council, Elekta, Ford and Crawley Borough Council.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 7 February, Henry Smith, MP for Crawley, will be spending the morning at the college. He will have a go at trying out some of the vocational subjects taught at the Crawley campus, including engineering, plumbing and hairdressing.

He will then attend the inaugural Manor Royal Business Group Learning Lunch, hosted by the Premier Inn, Fleming Way. The event will include an update by Mr Smith about the government’s policy on apprenticeships and business growth. There will also be a question and answer session on apprenticeships, chaired by representatives from Central Sussex College, the Manor Royal Business Group and the Gatwick and Crawley Chamber of Commerce.

The College’s Apprenticeship Week events finish with an advice session, on Wednesday 8 February, 5pm to 7pm at the Crawley campus.

Aspiring Apprentices and local employers are invited to attend, to find out more about the range of apprenticeship opportunities on offer through the College, and its Apprenticeship and Job Shop teams will be on-hand to offer advice on what’s involved in an apprenticeship, and provide support for finding employment.

The College is currently working with Gatwick Airport Ltd to introduce a new apprenticeship programme, with jobs available now.

Those interested are asked to bring their CV along to the advice session to apply.
