They did it - unofficially at the moment - and here’s who they were.
The Balcombe Club attempt to break the Guinness World BBQ Record of 26.5 hours was broken on Sunday (see previous report and video) when the team cooked non-stop for 27.5 hours.
Middy photographer Derek Martin made this video as the attempt got underway at 3.30pm last Saturday.
Club committee member Richard Cooper, who was one of the main lynch pins in the whole event, talks about how it would be done and by whom.
Main participants included the two cooks - Steve Crane, Michelin Star chef from Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield, and Bill Anthony, chairman of Balcombe Club.
The club now has to wait to see if the achievement is verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. All video footage, records of what was cooked and what was eaten are now on their way to the invigilators.
