Actress Gwyneth Powell cut a special cake at a gala event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Star Cinema in Hassocks.

Gwyneth chose ‘Star Cinema’ as the winning name in a competition in 2004 and she is pictured with Sherrian Guest who organised the celebration with Liz Mortimore. The popular ‘cinema’ at Adastra Hall started in 2003 and shows six films a year. At the gala evening on January 4, members of the audience entered along a red carpet and a “Happy Birthday” message from Dame Judi Dench was put on display. The next film is Anna Karenina on Feb’ 8. Doors open at 7pm.
