Have you say on how Haywards Heath retirement village will look

A consultation is ongoing after outline planning permission was given to a retirement village in Haywards Heath.

Mid Sussex District Council planners granted outline permission for the retirement village in July 2012.

Nick Webb, speaking on behalf of landowner W.T. Lamb Holdings, said: “We are looking to get views on the design of the buildings and even though the deadline has passed we will still accept comments up until we submit our reserved matters.”

W.T. Lamb Holdings and Boyer Planning held a public exhibition last month in Clair Hall, Haywards Heath.

The feedback will be compiled into a report that will be made available as part of the reserved matters planning application. The scheme includes up to 80 retirement apartments, a 70-bed care home with a dementia care unit, up to 13 retirement bungalows and a community building for Age UK, which would benefit the wider community as a venue for a range of events and social activities. The development off Butlers Green Road is earmarked for approximately 2.3 hectares of greenfield land next to Beech Hurst Garden, with Isaacs Lane on its western boundary. The design elements include locally-sourced Chartwell blended brick, timber weatherboards and interlocking roof tiles.
