Dame Vera Lynn with the Swingtime Sweethearts

PENSIONERS will take a trip down memory lane when the acclaimed ‘Swingtime Sweethearts’ perform Dame Vera Lynn’s wartime hits at Adastra Hall, Hassocks this Sunday (February 26).

This will be the 19th year that Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath Round Table has organised an entertainment event for pensioners from across Mid Sussex with music, memories and afternoon tea. ‘Swingtime Sweethearts’ are a well known 1940’s style singing duo who have performed at Buckingham Palace and recorded a single with Dame Vera Lynn.

Their wide range of songs from the 1940s, wartime and swing, includes the hits of Vera Lynn, The Andrews Sisters, Anne Shelton, Ella Fitzgerald and Glenn Miller.

Sunday’s event is free and tea, sandwiches and cakes will be provided.

Round Table will be using buses from Age UK day centres in Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill to provide transport for those not able to get to the hall independently. Anyone requiring transport to the event, should contact the centres in Haywards Heath (Tel: 01444 844461) or Burgess Hill (Tel: 01444 236497).

This year’s event will be jointly funded by the Round Table and Clearwell Mobility.
