STUDENTS at Oathall Community College in Haywards Heath were given a talk by Holocaust survivor Professor Ladislaus Löb.

The talk to Year 9 pupils was part of a day at the school dedicated to individual stories of the Holocaust and the visit was organised through the Holocaust Educational Trust.

Professor Löb’s visit to Oathall took place a few days before Holocaust Memorial Day which is on Friday January 27 and commemorates the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp.

Professor Löb’s talk was followed by a question and answer session, to enable students to better understand the nature of the Holocaust and to explore its lessons in more depth.

Student Dominic Haycock said: “It was a great insight into one of the many personal stories of the Holocaust.”

A school spokesman said: “The testimony of Professor Löb will remain a powerful reminder of the horrors so many experienced.”
