The talents that are so important to a man with learning difficulties were highlighted in a film at the Martlets Hall in Burgess Hill.
Ian Terry, from Burgess Hill, derives a lot of pleasure from his art work and covers a wide range of subjects.
For several years he has exhibited his work at the Marlets Hall, Burgess Hill, both in painting and crafts.
This year visitors saw an entirely different style of presentation in the hall foyer.
The film captures Ian’s work and adds extra impact through animation.
It was done by Leyton Eves, and has been touring the town and other Mid Sussex venues, sometimes beyond.
Ian, who is 36, chatted with visitors and told the Middy at the performance of his film: “It is good to see my pictures on the screen. I like doing art and I think they look really nice .”
Ian’s mother Tricia Bender and stepfather John and supporters from Circles of Support were there to see the film ‘Ian Terry My Place on Earth’ shown for two hours. Tricia said: “I feel the film portrays Ian’s love of drawing.
“He has always had a very good observation of mechanical things and an eye for detail. Making the film has given a boost to his self-esteem.”
The Circles of Support group has been supporting Ian and his family for several years, and Angela Butcher in particular has enouraged him with many life changes, including his exhibitions.
