Large anonymous donation helps raise £4000 at Cuckfield garden party

Stunning Cuckfield gardens were opened to the public for three days earlier this month in an event that raised more than £4000 for charity thanks partly to a large anonymous donation.

Orchard House was opened in aid of the St Peter and St James Hospice at Wivelsfield and also under the National Garden Scheme.

Visitors were treated to lawns bordered by displays of colour in the herbaceous borders and alpine beds, set off by apple orchards and mature beech hedges.

There was tea and home made cakes which were provided and served in the courtyard by volunteers.

This was the third year in a row that this event has run.

The thanked the visitors, volunteers and those who made donations for helping to make the days so successful.

The money was raised by those involved with and attending the event, including a single very large donation from an anonymous donor.

Similar garden openings are planned for summer 2015.
