Learner arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after stopping for '˜munchies'

A learner driver and his instructor were arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after stopping for '˜munchies' at a garage near Horsham, police have said.

Police said a car was stopped at the Buck Barn garage, in Worthing Road, at 8.45pm on Tuesday (February 9) after it was seen to be driving erratically.

A 21-year-old man, from Horsham, was arrested on suspicion of driving with a controlled drug in his system.

A 23-year-old man, also from Horsham, was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a motor vehicle with a controlled drug in his system and possession of a controlled drug.

On Twitter Sussex Road Policing said: “Learner driver and supervisor arrested for drug-driving following a munchies stop at Buck Barn Services.”

Police added the car was not a driving school vehicle but was a learner being supervised by another driver.

They have both been bailed until April 7.
