The largest independent lift manufacturer in the UK is opening a major office in Burgess Hill this month to expand its reach, provide an improved service to customers in the area and provide new jobs.
Pickerings Lifts are opening the new branch on Victoria Road as part of the company’s ambitious five-year growth strategy launched in 2011, that will see the company strive to double its turnover from £20m to £40m.
Customer support manager Glyn Evans, said: “This expansion is great news for Pickerings Lifts, and great news for our client base in the area, which we can provide an even better level of service to.
“The new office really demonstrates our ambitions as a group, and will allow us to broaden our reach across the whole of the South Coast. We have a great team in place, and we’re looking forward to growing the office, and continuing to deliver the outstanding quality of work our customers have come to expect from us.”
The recruitment plan for the new office is to take on new staff members over the next 12 months to aggressively grow the office.
Spread over two floors, the 1,263 square foot space will house a ground floor warehouse, with offices situated on the second level.
A team of 12, headed by Mr Evans, will be based at the office, delivering Pickerings’ full suite of services, including lift maintenance, callout and repair service, lift and access products, loading systems, escalators, as well as heating and cooling systems to customers in the South Coast.
The company aims to double its engineering workforce , creating eight job opportunities in Burgess Hill.
Pickerings Lifts already works with a number of major clients in the area including local hotels, businesses, councils and high street retailers.
The company employs more than 360 people across 12 offices in the UK. The Burgess Hill office comes on the back of Pickerings’ most recent expansion, in Gateshead, in December 2013.
