Long awaited crossing to open

A long awaited pedestrian road crossing will be ready to use by the end of this month.

The crossing on Northlands Avenue, Haywards Heath, has been created thanks to a long campaign by residents, business owners and councillors.

Pharmacist Gary Marshall said: “This road has become busier and busier over the years and it’s just great news that our campaign to keep everyone safe has at last come to fruition!

“My older customers often comment upon their discomfort at using the road and I have always been concerned for the children crossing from the school and shops from Hoblands and Franklands Village.”

Haywards Heath Town Councillor Steve Hillier said: “Everyone has worked together over the years to get this crossing in place and make our community safer. It’s going to make such a difference to young and old, so well done to all for their perseverance”.
