A lorry crashed into a bridge carrying the Bluebell Railway over a country road.

Police and fire and rescue workers were called to the bridge at Keysford Lane, Horsted Keynes.

They found that no-one was trapped in the articulated lorry, which was moved to a safe area.

Police closed the road after the incident, which happened just after 8pm last night.

A structural engineer was called to examine the bridge, and a fire crew from Haywards Heath cleared spillage from the road, which was later re-opened. pic: Alan Balkham
