A man who admitted trying to steal a cash machine from a petrol station is due to be sentenced on Friday.

Morgan Paine, 26, of Bentswood Road, Haywards Heath, admitted attempted theft when he appeared at Brighton Law Courts yesterday, Crown Prosecution Service records say.

Sussex Police say four men dressed in high visibility clothing put up ‘road closed’ signs on a section of Bolney Road, Ansty, on November 28 evening, and tried to steal an ATM from Ansty Garage.

Paine was arrested nearby soon afterwards, but the other three fled the scene.

Police say the three other suspects are still at large.
