A MAN has died after he was struck by a train at Balcombe Railway Station this afternoon (Thursday February 26).
Emergency services were called to the station at 4pm but the man was declared dead at the scene.
Police said they aren't treating the death as suspicious.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said an investigation had been launched into the incident.
"The police would appreciate any help from anybody who saw the incident or who knows what may have happened," she said.
Police have sealed off the entrance to the station and are guarding the car park.
Lee Sadler, 35, lives near the station on London Road.
He was at the scene when the paramedics arrived.
He said: "Suddenly loads of lights were flashing.
"One ambulance turned up closely followed by another and then all of the police cars arrived."
BTP have appealed for any witnesses to call them immediately on 0800 405040.
Southern is running train shuttles between Brighton and Haywards Heath, then buses between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges.
