Mencap's photo winners - slideshow
ARTISTIC views of Sussex and a film about a Cyborg showed creative talent behind the lens in Mencap's annual photographic competition.
Film makers and photographers from Burgess Hill were among the prize-winners in a county-wide competition that attracted over 700 picture entries from 174 people with learning difficulties.
A further 25 competitors were involved in film-making projects, including a team connected with Signposts - a Burgess Hill based organisation for people with learning disabilities.
Several Mid Sussex photographers and film-makers picked up top prizes, including Elizabeth Munnion, Donna Irvine and Alex Forth, a photographer who has twice won awards in a national competition.
Video films ranged from a Science-Fiction police drama to a plasticine animation and all were screened during the prize giving ceremony and exhibition at the Martlets Hall, Burgess Hill on Wednesday (June 10).
A group of talented film-makers from Signposts in Burgess Hill picked up second prize in the video competition, with 'The First Arrest' - an entertaining video about a policeman sent to arrest a Cyborg.
The competition, now in its twenty-sixth year, was financed by Mid-Sussex Mencap with support from Jewel Interiors Ltd of Peacehaven and Sussex Audio Visual of Brighton.
