Mental health trust invites the public in

A MENTAL health trust that wants to close the only ward for elderly mental health patients in Mid Sussex is inviting people to find out more about its work.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, the main provider of mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services in Sussex, is opening its doors to the public and its members at the Annual General Meeting of the Council of Governors at 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 28.

The meeting is at the lecture theatre, Sussex Education Centre, Millview Hospital site, Nevill Avenue, Hove.

The trust, with NHS West Sussex, recently ran a consultation on its plans to close Clayton Ward at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.

The document was heavily criticsed by the Mid Sussex older people's Council for lacking data and information on carers' needs, demographic trends and gaps in community services.

The document also contained the wrong e-mail address for people to forward their views.
