Mid Sussex welcomed blues skies and sunshine bursts among the clouds this afternoon as last night’s storm swept away from the district late this morning.
Behind it the storm left two modest heroes who impressed a neighbour near Lindfield.
The two men used chain saws to clear a 50ft fallen tree from the Scaynes Hill to Lindfield Road and left without giving details.
A neighbour who watched them said: “It was very heartening.”
Services were getting back to normal after last night’s 60 mph winds and deluge of rain caused disruption to buses and trains, with dozens of trees felled by the wind and some roads blocked. Southern Railway broought in a temporary timetable for the rest of today. (Monday)
