National Trust oppose Newick rubbish plan

THE National Trust has thrown its weight behind the campaign to stop a giant rubbish mountain being established near Newick.

It has voiced its "extreme concern" over the East Sussex County Council proposal and fears it would have a detrimental effect on one of the Trust's most popular attractions in the South East.

Sheffield Park Garden lies about two miles north of Grisling Common, the site earmarked for the landraise facility on the borders of Newick and Piltdown.

Unpleasant smells and noise from a waste dump would spoil the delights of the attraction, which has some 200,000 visitors per year.
