Term opened at Ardingly College today with new Headteacher Ben Figgis.
Mr Figgis, who was senior deputy head at Oakham school in Rutland for almost 10 years, comes to Ardingly with his wife Joanna, a primary school teacher, and three children.
He said he is glad to be working in Sussex.
He said: “Ardingly has strong Christian values and I was struck by the genuine respect for every individual in the community – for every adult working here as well as every child.”
The new Head is looking forward to making sure the College’s third Arts Fest in 2015 is another great success.
He is also keen to develop community links.
He said: “It is the responsibility of independent schools to work with maintained schools. Ardingly was founded as an educational charity and it is important we build on these principles.
“I am interested in finding local schools to work with in educational partnerships, to find an overlap of interests and to work on projects which will be productive for them.”
