APPLE pie and custard will be on the menu when a new community orchard in Hassocks springs to life.

Sussex varieties of apple and plum trees were planted this week, with on-going work to put in rhubarb plants and raspberry canes.

The orchard project has been started by the Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Keymer and Ditchling (HKD) Transition Group, which is looking for people to get involved.

You can read more on this story and see more pictures in this week’s Mid Sussex Times, which is published on Thursday, February 16.
