A NEW police chief has taken over in Mid Sussex with a priority to continue supporting neighbourhood policing teams and volunteers.

Chief Inspector Jon Hull is the new District Commander for Mid Sussex after a 16 year career with Sussex Police so far.

Writing to Neighbourhood Watch groups across the district, Ch Insp Hull said: “I am really looking forward to working in Mid Sussex and my priorities will be to continue to reduce crime and to make sure that we are concentrating on tackling the issues that affect the public the most, including NHW.

“I have already met a lot of the local response and neighbourhood officers and I have been really impressed with their attitude and ability.

“I am excited about what we can all achieve together.”

Ch Insp Hull joined Sussex Police in 1995, starting at Brighton and later becoming a detective in CID.

In 2001, he joined the Major Crime Team where he was responsible for investigating the most serious offences and trained in advanced interviewing.

He then worked on response at Worthing before moving to the Community & Justice Department, where he has spent the last few years being responsible for Brighton custody and the Force’s Identification Unit.
