THOUSANDS of people flocked to the Dogs Trust open day on Sunday to enjoy a fun dog show, agility course and doggy dash.

Naomi Tucker, one of the organisers of the event, said between 2,000 and 3,000 people had visited the open day on Adur Recreation Ground, Shoreham, to raise a grand total of 7,500 for the charity.

"It's worth all the hard work when it's such a successful event and it raises sums like that," said Naomi.

"We were delighted.

"When we found out how much we'd raised, we were really pleased.

"It's the one day of the year when we get to raise significant amounts of money for the dogs in our care and it raises a huge amount of awareness about the work we do."

Attractions at the fun day included hot dog dipping for dogs, face-painting, games, a raffle and a tour of the Dogs Trust Centre.

The fun dog show drew huge crowds and the overall winner was a former Dogs Trust resident, Jerry, who also won most adorable older dog.
