Private management of Mid Sussex leisure services

LEISURE services in Mid Sussex will now be managed jointly by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) and Freedom Leisure for the next five years.

The decision was made at a full Mid Sussex District council meeting on Wednesday, February 25.

The new management will run the Olympos Leisure Centres in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and East Grinstead, Clair Hall in Haywards Heath and the Martlets Hall in Burgess Hill on behalf of the council.

Chief execuive of Mid Susex District Council John Jory said: "There will be little change for everyone who uses Clair Hall, Martlets Hall and the leisure centres; there will be the same staff, same facilities, same good quality service and same prices. These are important issues for our residents, quite understandably, so we need to ensure that they receive the correct information.

"Given the current economic climate, people will be focused on prices and I want everyone to know that pricing will remain under our control."

The new leisure contract will begin on July 1.
