Programme begins to roll for Lindfield Arts Festival line-up

The list of sponsors is growing for this year’s Lindfield Arts Festival with just under seven weeks to go before the three days of events start.

This year is the fourth for the annual arts and drama event with 2013 director Gabrielle Hall excited by the latest addition of film to the agenda.

Gabrielle heads a 20-strong committee of volunteers pulling the festival together with a 2013 theme of ‘Stepping into Wonderland, Adventures in Art’.

Gabrielle said she wanted the festival to encompass ‘fantasy, imagination and fairy tales’ with a myriad of events and attractions allowing people to ‘bring their inner child out to play’.

The three previous festivals have each grown in size and ambition with last year’s attracting bumper numbers from all over Mid Sussex to witness the giant, inflated Luminarium on Lindfield Common.

This year’s attractions take place over three days from May 10 to 12 and cover fine art exhibitions, photography, sculpture, poetry, dance, theatre, and a showcase of local singing talent. Organisers want to make the festival more interactive with more workshops and opportunities to try new things “so visitors can play as well as watch, listen and learn”.

Gabrielle, who is a Reiki therapist and a spiritual mentor, formerly owned the village shop, Heart & Soul, and was a business sponsor of the first festival in 2010, She now owns and manages the Koorana Centre in Ardingly. Other local companies involved include Rok Skool, which is organising the music programme, and marketing agency Bellman Media, which has built the new website for 2013.

The festival committee wants to hear from other potential sponsors and more information is on the website at www.lindfieldartsfestival.com or by emailing info@lindfieldartsfestival.com. Some tickets are already on sale and people can enter a competition on the website to win a weekend Freedom of the Festival VIP pass for a family.
