Rapping robot recycles lessons for Rustington pupils
PUPILS at a Rustington primary school have been learning their three "Rs".
No, not reading, writing and arithmetic, but reduce, reuse and recycle.
Georgian Gardens Primary School had a visit from a rapping recycling robot, named Recycler, last Wednesday (October 31)
The robot is part of a joint project between Arun District Council and the Recycle Now campaign, to teach children the importance of recycling.
Paul White, education and promotion officer for the council, said: "The kids love the way Recycler interacts with them and puts across his message in a really fun way.
"They quickly pick up the rap and join in. It's a great way to remember important messages and take them home. The kids loved the performance so much that they were keen to have regular assemblies from Recycler, and performer George, who joined him."
He added that the council was always looking to for new ways to encourage more people to recycle, and that by educating children from an early age they would grow up appreciating the importance of recycling, as well as spreading the message to family and friends.
The Recycler schools programme is organised by the Waste and Resources Action Programme, and Waste Watch.
