A referendum has been called in Cuckfield for Thursday 24 of July.
Villagers will decide if they would like the Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan to be used to determine planning applications in the area.
Neighbourhood Plans are a new way for local people to decide the future of their areas. Town and Parish Councils work alongside local residents to develop plans that will influence the planning of the area where they live and work. Cuckfield Parish Council has now finalised a Neighbourhood Plan for the village and, if over 50% of voters support the plan, it will be used to decide local planning applications.
The referendum on Thursday 24 July will be held to decide on the following question: Do you want Mid Sussex District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Cuckfield to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’
Only residents in the Parish Ward of Cuckfield are eligible to vote in the Neighbourhood Plan referendum. The deadline for new registration applications is Midnight on Tuesday 8 .
July 2014 and the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 9 July 2014.
