Commuters and other drivers face a further month of disruption in Haywards Heath while power cables are put in for new homes.
Infrastructure provider GTC has apologised for the disruption caused by essential works it is doing on the A272 in the Bolnore Road, Muster Green and South Road areas of Haywards Heath. They are to bring electricity supplies via high voltage mains cables to the new development in the Reading Wood area, behind Grosvenor Hall, off Bolnore Road.
The six week programme of works started on October 1 and will move east along the A272. GTC says it is working closely with the traffic control contractor.
A spokesman said: “Unfortunately, it appears that vandalism late on Monday night (September 30) to the traffic lights caused additional congestion problems on the morning of Tuesday October 1.
“We are looking again at the work programme to see what can be done to complete the works in a shorter timescale. Once again GTC would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
