ROBBERS struck at a family only days after the couple and their children they moved into their new home.

Police have issued an appeal to help trace the two young robbers who struck in the early evening at Cuckfield.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Tuesday 20 November at a house in The Highlands, off Hanlye Lane in Cuckfield, occupied by a couple in their thirties and their three young children, a 10-year old girl, a two-year old boy and a three month-old baby girl, who had only moved in a few days before.

The family were relaxing in the lounge when they heard a knock at the door. When the door was answered, two men forced their way in and demanded money. They made off with a Packard Bell Notebook, a Toshiba Laptop, an iPod Touch and a £5 note.

One of the attackers, of whom police have released an Efit, is described as black, in his mid 20’s, about 5’9”, and of stocky build, wearing a black hoody. The other man was described as being white, in his mid 20’s, about 5’11 tall and of slim build with fair hair and hair on his face, almost a beard.

Detective Constable John Hord of West Sussex CID said “No one was hurt during the incident, but this was a frightening attack for the couple and their children who were looking forward to life in their new home, and all of whom were present when the attack happened.”

“From our enquiries we suspect that this may have been a case of mistaken identity and I would urge anybody who has information to come forward. I would also like to hear from anyone in the local area who may have been offered any of the stolen items for sale. You can contact us via 101 quoting serial 1204 of 20/11, or you can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
