A seed swap at Hassocks farmers’ market on Saturday attracted plenty of green fingered gardeners.
The swap was organised by the Transition Group covering Hassocks, Ditchling, Keymer and Hurstpeirpoint, an organisation which promotes sustainable living.
Juliet Merrifield, who helped to organise the annual event, said: “Lots of children made seed bombs and planted garlic to take home, or took the instructions to make their own ‘cress eggheads’ at home.
“We had a plentiful exchange of homegrown seeds, from carrots to runner beans, Canterbury Bells to foxgloves, including some interesting new plants that many people hadn’t heard of.
“The sun shone, many people were out and about at the market, and the seed swap generated lots of interest.”
