Her warm smile said it all - Sister Thomas who heads the Augustinian Order that owns St George’s Park received her MBE from Her Majesty the Queen last Thursday.

After her investiture, Sister Thomas returned to St George’s Retirement Village in Ditchling and celebrated with the Sisters of the Augustinian Order and guests who included Bishop Kieran Conry of Arundel and Brighton and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Sara Stoner.

Sister Thomas, who received her MBE for services to retirement, said: “Meeting Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace was a wonderful experience and I am truly grateful for this honourable award. The award is a great tribute to all of the hard work and time the Augustinian Sisters have given to St George’s Park.

“I would like to therefore thank everyone who has helped at the retirement village from the initial planning stages through to the day to day organisation. It has been a real team effort and I accept this award on behalf of everyone involved.”

Since its launch in 2005, St George’s Park has become a pioneering retirement village where residents can enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle in a caring and safe environment.
