Slideshow - Beatles tribute band play their final gig

BEATLES fans are left with some great memories after giving tribute band Rubber Soul a great send-off at their final gig.

The Burgess-Hill based band drew one of the biggest crowds for a gig at the Kings Head pub in Burgess Hill to see the band wind up after ten years of public performances.

Former members briefly re-joined the band as it went out to the sound of singing, dancing and applauding fans after the anthem Hey Jude.

In an extra long session the band gave one of their finest performances, doing the Beatles amazing songbook great credit.

Raw high-energy early material like I Saw Her Standing There, the driving I'm Looking Through You, or the studio-perfected material like Day in the Life, got superb treatment.

With Dan Hare and the Wadey brothers James, Jon, and Jason, supplemented by earlier members it was a storming way to end the band.

Drummer Jason Wadey excelled on his live favourite Golden Slumbers from the Abbey Road album.

On a night of nostalgia In My Life, beautifully played and sung, was dedicated by the band to the wives and girlfriends who sometimes had to stay at home while the band did the business so brilliantly on stage.

And the song Anna was dedicated to loyal fan Mick Loosen, of Burgess Hill, who has followed the group to most of their gigs.

Charities have been left with plenty to sing about, too, with the band having helped raise more than 40,000 for various causes over the years.

Tim Grist's pictures from Saturday night (April 11) are set against the music of I'm Looking Through You from the final gig
