Slow start at polls

There was a slow start to the polls in Mid Sussex to choose the first Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner this morning.

Our picture shows one of only seven people into the polling station at Fairfield Road, Burgess Hill, in about two hours earlier today. Nationally there have been forecasts of only only about 15 per cent of eligible voters turning out.

Business could be brisker when people vote after work this evening.

Results will be verified and announced tomorrow.
