Snow set to continue overnight

The Met office has issued an amber ‘be prepared’ snow warning for today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday).
Further snow showers are forecast until 9am tomorrow morning.
For the most part only small amounts of snow are likely to settle on roads during the daytime, but from around dusk accumulations of 2-5 cm of snow could occur in places, with a low risk of 5-10 cm for southern parts of Sussex and Kent overnight.
Earlier today Sussex police released a statement advising people to be careful whilst driving.
Chief forecaster at the Met Office said: “A very cold and unstable northeasterly flow will continue to produce snow showers across the region. Meanwhile, the northern flank of a depression across northern France brings potential for more prolonged spells of snow affecting southern counties. There remains uncertainty about how far north this more persistent snow will spread tonight, but the south of Sussex and Kent are at greatest risk.” The public are advised to be aware of the risk of disruption to travel.
