SNOW - Travel delays on trains
Train delays.
Poor weather conditions are causing delays to train services in southern England.
Network Rail said today (Tuesday, March 11): “Heavy snow is reported to have fallen in many areas. This is causing problems with the signalling systems, where the ‘points’ at junctions are having to be cleared of snow.”
The following train operators are affected until further notice:
* Southern - Short notice cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes can be expected across the whole Southern network today.
* Redhill - Tonbridge - No trains are currently able to run between Redhill and Tonbridge. No replacement transport is available due to the poor road conditions.
Ticket Acceptance
Passengers may use:
Southeastern, South West Trains and First Capital Connect services on any reasonable routes
First Great Western services between Redhill and Guildford
Brighton & Hove buses on the coastal routes
Stagecoach bus route 700
London Underground service between London Terminals
* First Capital Connect - Journeys on the route between Bedford and Brighton will be subject to short notice cancellations and delays of up to 45 minutes.
Ticket Acceptance
Passengers may use:
London Underground, Southeastern, Southern and First Capital Connect (Great Northern route) services on any reasonable routes
East Midlands Trains between Bedford and London St Pancras
* Southeastern - Southeastern currently do not have any poor weather related disruptions and are running a normal timetabled service. However they are currently being affected by a signalling problem between Paddock Wood and Strood.
* Gatwick Express - Short notice cancellations are expected because of train stock displacement.
