Millions of television viewers could soon be seeing a Burgess Hill school teacher’s book in television format.

Jill Walkinton gave youngsters at Burgess Hill School for Girls, where she teaches, a preview of her hotly-tipped childrens’ book Something Delicious.

Jill wrote the book with fellow teacher and writing partner Alison Lewis and it is published under the name Jill Lewis.

The talented pair have collaborated successfully before on writing, and their previous book Mum in a Million won five-star reviews.

The Middy has been told that television programme makers are already looking at the possiblity of the book being turned into a television series to entertain younger children because of its obvious appeal.

The youngsters were given the preview as part of an Infants Book Week at the school.

Youngsters at the school eagerly devoured the brightly-illustrated book, and an hour-long talk was given to the younger pupils of the school.

The illustrations for the book are by Ali Pye.

The book is due for publication i n September .

Lorna Coward, press offcier for the school, told the Mid Sussex Times: “The book will be published in September and Channel 4 are looking to make it into a TV series.

“It is already being called the best thing since the Mr Men books.”
