Students show off their cracking ideas
Three schools joined forces for a very creative morning of fun activities.
Youngsters enjoyed a morning of designing, modelling and acting at Tavistock and Summerhill school in Lindfield.
The inspiration was taken from Wallace and Gromit.
Pupils from Tavistock and Blackthorns Primary School in Lindfield were also joined by year 10 learning mentors from Oathall Community College.
They tackled the problems of designing and making an innovative hand-held device for the future followed by the designing and constructing of a new style of packaging for a range of Wallace and Gromit biscuits.
At the end of the day each group also had to design a 30 second TV advertisement to sell the biscuits to an unsuspecting public.
The pupils had to work corroboratively and with a time limit to achieve their objectives with the support of their learning mentors.
A spokesperson said: “The ideas produced were not only imaginative and innovative, but more importantly all of the challenges were approached from a different point of view.
“For the learning mentors this was a fascinating experience and who knows it may have planted an entrepreneurial seed into a future generation of designers.”
