‘Stupendous’ solstice celebration at fair

Two hundred Ditchling villagers walked to the top of a hill and watched the sun set while Morris dancers played music on the day of the solstice.

It was a rare and ‘stupendous’ day at the Ditchling Fair on June 21. The event fell on the longest day of the year and the sun greeted ‘swarms’ of visitors who came out to enjoy the traditional festivities from 8.30am until 11.30pm.
