An 18-year-old local man was attacked by another teenager as he walked along Church Walk, Burgess Hill on Saturday (February, 2).

The victim was approached by the suspect at around 11.20pm and was punched in the face causing him to suffer a broken nose in what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.

PC Steve Lambeth from the Neighbourhood Response Team said: “This was a nasty assault and we are keen to find the person responsible for it as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to speak to a group of teenagers who were seen hanging around the Post Office with the suspect prior to the attack and to the teenagers who spoke to the victim after he was punched in the face. Please call 101 quoting serial 1671 of 2/2 or leave a message anonymously with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The suspect is described as black, aged 16 to 17, 5’ 11” of broad build with short black hair and was wearing black gloves, a dark body warmer over a black long sleeve jumper and a black scarf.
