Tennis club seeks improvement funds

Tennis players at Plumpton Green might soon be on the way to having a new clubhouse and an extra court.

The village’s tennis club is organising funding applications, including one to Sport England.

The club plays at courts next to the Plumpton Green village recreation ground and has been growing in popularity, which has prompted the need for building improved facilities for members.

It says if it succeeds it will be able to increase the number of courts to four, as well as building the new clubhouse.

Meanwhile, the club has been running lessons in schools including Plumpton and Wivelsfield, and also, after Easter, Chailey Secondary.

The club has also secured a bursary for two of its younger players to do their level two coaching qualifications, which means they will be offering a series of six free lessons to 14 – 25 year olds over the summer.
