Traders sought for market

Shoppers could soon be getting a new outdoor market in Burgess Hill.

Good quality traders are being sought and organisers are hoping to have about 20 stalls in Church Walk.

Many years ago the town had a bustling outdoor market, but attempts to replace and re-site it have not met with great or enduring success.

This time the Burgess Hill Town Centre Partnership is seeking traders for the weekly venture.

Stuart Mitchell, asset manager with NewRiver retail, a partnership member, said: “We are speaking to local and national operators with the intention to provide a good quality presentable market possibly but not exclusively with an emphasis on food.

“The intention is to look to provide approximately 20 stalls in order to enhance the environment and shopping experience of the town centre for our shoppers.”

Mr Mitchell said anyone interested could contact Chris Downes, of the partnership, at cdownes@nrr.co.uk telephone 020 3372 8894 or Jo Whitcombe, at jo@burgesshill.gov.uk telephone 01444 238 209.
