Tricia’s life saving project in a small downland village

More than 50 residents in Fulking have received training in how to use a defibrillator thanks to the efforts of Tricia Robinson.
Tricia, a health visitor, nurse and midwife, began co-ordinating a training programme in the village for very personal reasons. Her daughter, Lucie died, aged 24, two years ago after a Sunday morning emergency in which she was revived by Tricia - but sadly died a week later.
Tricia said: “Since then I have wanted as many people as possible to be trained in resuscitation techniques.”
The Shepherd and Dog pub run by Jenny Tooley (pictured) has a defibrillator and more than half a dozen staff have been trained to use it. Dave Fletcher, a paramedic who founded the Henfield Area Response Team, took the instruction classes organised by Tricia, who has set up a fund in Lucie’s name to pay for defibrillator cases.
