Two charged with assaulting police near Ditchling

Two men have been charged with assaulting police officers after being involved in a collision in Ditchling Common yesterday (Sunday January 26).

Emergency services were called to the B2112 near Ditchling at 9.27am, to a green Peugeot 106 which had been involved in a collision with a tree.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “When officers attended, the two men in the car assaulted the three officers and were arrested.”

Luke Andrews, 25, unemployed of Mowel Court, Haywards Heath has been charged with failing to provide a specimen, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and assaulting a police officer.

Luke Sherbourne, 22, unemployed of Brooklands, Lower Bolnore Village, Haywards Heath has been charged with taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and assaulting a police officer and ABH.

They are both due to appear at Crawley Magistrates Court on February 12.
